President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has had a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. After warm greetings, the two countries’ leaders confirmed Turkmenistan’s and Russia’s long-standing commitment to the traditional relations of friendship and equal fruitful cooperation that serves the interests of both states. President Vladimir Putin offered his hearty congratulations to his Turkmen counterpart on being re-elected to the high office, having wished good health and more success ahead in his noble activity for the benefit of the country and nation. The Russian leader said that the convincing victory in the presidential elections serves as a vivid illustration of all-people’s support for President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and his progressive policy aimed at the national economy’s modernization and strengthening, higher living standards and quality-of-life improvements for the people. Thankful for the warm congratulations and well-wishes, the head of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction a high level and constructive character of interstate Turkmen-Russian dialogue, rapidly developing in the bilateral and multilateral format. During the telephone talk, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Vladimir Putin gave consideration to priority issues of bilateral cooperation, and identified its key areas. The counterparts recognized untapped potential for stepping up partnership in the trade-economic sphere and a number of other areas, including for fostering the by-now established close relations between Turkmenistan and large regions of the Russian Federation, its leading industrial, scientific-educational and cultural centers. The parties also exchanged their opinions on vital regional and global issues of mutual interest, having stressed the readiness of neutral Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation to continue effective cooperation within authoritative international organizations and agencies. President Vladimir Putin also noted the success of Turkmen diplomacy, evidenced by the adoption of the UN General Assembly’s Resolution (co-authored by Russia), declaring December 12 as International Neutrality Day. In the course of the talk, the head of Turkmenistan invited his Russian counterpart to pay an official visit to our country.
