President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a state visit to Astana, considers cooperation in the transport sphere as a key factor in the successful economic development of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan as well as their integration in the system of global relations. Speaking during the Turkmen-Kazakh talks in extended format, the Turkmen leader focused on a bright result of cooperation in the transport sphere – the construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway. According to the Turkmen leader, the railway will bring the trade and economic cooperation between Central Asian countries and neighbouring regions up to a qualitatively new level and offer a powerful incentive to interregional relations on a long-term basis. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Turkmenistan in transport segment stood as a driving force for development in Central Asia and neighbouring regions, an important factor for successful economic integration and partnership in the North-South and East-West routes. According to the Turkmen leader, the favorable geographical position of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan at the junction of the continental Eurasian routes necessitates enhancing cooperation in transport projects, participation in the construction of new transport and transit corridors of regional and continental importance.
