Meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh commission was held in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat, was held the regular meeting of the Joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation. A representative delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askar Mamin, arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the meeting. At the meeting, which was also attended by the leaders and specialists of several departments of the two countries, the issues, the implementation of interstate agreements, and priority directions for the development of partnership were discussed. The participants of the meeting noted the high level of bilateral relations. As emphasized, a new stimulus to the dialogue was given by the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan in April of this year to the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of which a package of important intergovernmental agreements and other documents was signed. The parties discussed a number of steps designed to promote the diversification of partnership in the trade and economic sphere, and to increase trade turnover. An interest was expressed in strengthening cooperation in the field of agriculture, the fuel and energy sector, and a number of other industries. In particular, the possibilities of Kazakhstan’s companies participation in the project implementation of construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India were considered. The commission has paid special attention to the interaction in the transport sphere, where Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad served as an example of an effective effort. Projects of modernization of roads connecting the countries, creation of a border trade zone between Mangistau region of Kazakhstan and Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan were the subject of consideration. It was noted that the forthcoming international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana, in which our country would take part, would contribute to the activation of ties. Participants of the meeting spoke in favor of expanding humanitarian contacts in the fields of education, science and culture, environmental protection and sports. A protocol was signed as a result of the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission.
