The seventh meeting of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group, the agenda of which included issues of increasing partnership in the trade and economic sphere, has been held in Ashgabat. A delegation led by Deputy Minister and Head of the Foreign Economic Policy Department of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Eckhard Franz arrived to the meeting in the Turkmen capital. It is noteworthy that German companies were among the first to come to the Turkmen market. The fact that many well-known German companies opened their branches and representative offices in our country is a confirmation of the German business community's desire to consolidate its positions in the promising Turkmen market, where a favorable investment climate has been created. The parties exchanged views on the prospects for the development of long-term cooperation, as well as the implementation of previously reached agreements, including the ones formed during the previous meeting held last April in Berlin. The co-chairs noted that among the key partnership vectors are the fuel and energy complex, where Turkmenistan, which has a huge resource potential, implements the strategy of radical modernization of the material and technical base of the industry, diversification of export routes for energy supplies, including in the European direction. Among the issues of the current meeting is cooperation in the field of transport. In order to optimize the mutually beneficial partnership in this strategic area, initiatives are being taken to form transit and transport corridors ""North-South"" and ""East-West"", as well as ongoing work in Turkmenistan to modernize the corresponding infrastructure and create a combined transport communications system. Representatives of the German side expressed the desire of their leading companies to participate in major infrastructural projects, in particular, the reconstruction of the seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi, the creation of the National Tourist Zone Avaza and others. As noted, an important sphere of bilateral relations is the agro-industrial complex, development of cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery supplies to Turkmenistan. In this aspect, attention was drawn to the expansion of the service base of German companies in our country, as well as their more active participation in the training of engineering and technical personnel. Issues of increasing contacts in the spheres of education, science and culture, healthcare, and tourism industry were also discussed. In this context, the possibility of organizing an exhibition of artifacts representing Margiana - the kingdom of the Bronze Age on the territory of Turkmenistan, which is scheduled to be held in the Federal Republic of Germany in 2018 - was considered. German companies are also able to provide assistance in the field of ecology, arrangement of natural, archaeological and historical cultural facilities on the basis of the use of the latest ""green"" technologies, active leisure infrastructure, organization of the hotel industry. Stating the desire to build partnership in the field of advanced technologies, the guests noted that Germany is ready to offer the latest scientific and production developments. In this regard, the discussion and consideration of the possibilities of implementing new joint projects in various sectors was held.
