A telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The Tajik leader congratulated the Head of Turkmenistan on his 60th birthday, wishing him health and achieving all his goals for the benefit of the Turkmen people. President Emomali Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan is interested in strengthening and expanding relations with friendly Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked his Tajik counterpart for the congratulations and good wishes, expressing confidence that the Turkmen-Tajik relations will continue to develop on the principles of good-neighborliness and mutual respect. During the conversation, the parties discussed a number of issues related to expanding interaction both on a bilateral basis and within regional and international organizations. The emphasis was on the prospects for the development of interstate dialogue, based on the principles of centuries-old friendship and spiritual community of the two peoples. Both sides called for the continuation of the practice of cultural and creative exchanges. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited President Emomali Rahmon to the opening of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, stressing that the Tajik leader will always be a welcome guest of our country.
