Representative Government delegations of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan led by President of the country Mohammad Ashraf Ghani arrives in Turkmen capital. This official visit is to be another important step toward further consolidation and development of friendly interstate relations. Throughout many years, Turkmenistan actively participates in the process of peaceful regulation of the situation in Afghanistan comprehensively supporting social, economic and cultural revival of the country. This is indicated by the initiatives of the Head of our State uttered at the sessions of the UN General Assembly and other large international forums. These initiatives are aimed at implementation of large investment projects, which are to support the restoration of Afghan economy, solution of social and humanitarian issues. There is construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline (TAPI) among them. New energy main providing long-term delivery of Turkmen natural as to the largest countries of South-East Asia will give strong impulse to economic development of entire region and will allow the establishment of thousands of employments. It is also important that different like electrical energy, transport and communication and social infrastructural facilities will be built along the pipeline. Besides, Afghanistan will get considerable commercial benefit for transit of gas via its territory. In this context, cooperation in transport and communication sphere, dictated by geographic location of our countries, is also of a great importance. The construction of Atamyrat – Ymamnazar – Akina railroad, the first phase of Asian International Transport corridor, which was ceremonially opened with participation of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, is a visual example of this. In the future, this railroad will be an important link of transit and transport traffic routes in regional and international scale. Supporting Afghan people in its quest for peaceful and prosperous life, our country supplies Afghanistan with electrical energy and liquefied gas at reduced cost, builds social facilities, in particular of medical and educational purpose. Besides, Afghan students study in Turkmen universities and acquire professional knowledge in different specialities. It is expected that the agenda of Turkmen – Afghan high-level negotiations will include wide spectrum of subjects of interstate partnership both in bilateral format and under competent international organizations and structures including the UN. The leaders of two neighbouring countries will discuss key directions of beneficial cooperation under practical realization of the agreements achieved earlier and long-term prospects.
