Today in the ""Oguzhan"" Palace complex a ceremony of conferral of the title of Honourable citizen of Ashgabat upon Chairwoman of the Council of Federation of Federal Meeting of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko has taken place. At the solemn ceremony President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov signed the corresponding Ukase and told of Valentina Matvienko's special merits in development of relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, expansion of cooperation in policy, economy, science, education and culture and also noted his great personal contribution to consolidation of friendship of two people. Having thanked for the rendered great honour, the speaker of the Council of Federation of Russia underlined that she was inexpressibly glad to become an honourable citizen of the wonderful Turkmen capital - admiring with its unique architecture and beauty the city which is a large peace-making centre where for the sake of general well-being and progress large scale international forums are held. The ceremony passed with participation of representatives of the Russian delegation and senior officials of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
