In the Mejlis the meeting with members of the delegation at the head of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Azerbaijan Republic (Milli Mejlis) Oktay Asadov who arrived in our country for participation in the solemn opening of the 5th Asian indoor and martial arts games took place. Having expressed gratitude for the hospitality rendered to the Azerbaijan delegation on the Turkmen soil, the speaker of the parliament of the friendly country conveyed congratulations and best regards to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all Turkmen nationals with the successful opening of the «Ashgabat 2017», having expressed confidence that they will increase the international authority of Turkmenistan as the country supporting well-being and general progress. - The fact of conduction of the Asian Games in your country testifies to the recognition of outstanding merits of the Turkmen leader in development of sports and international cooperation in this sphere and magnificent opening ceremony of the Games at the capital Olympic stadium as well as all preparatory work, deserve appreciation, noted Oktay Asadov. The head of the parliament and representatives of the delegation were acquainted with the basic functions and tasks of the highest legislative body of Turkmenistan, its structure and areas of activity in the light of the cardinal reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the legislative sphere, perfection of which is urged to accelerate the course of large scale transformation programs of the state development. During the meeting the unanimity of views was expressed that the developed centuries-old traditions of good neighbourhood, commonality of history and cultural wealth of two fraternal people and dynamically developing cooperation of Turkmenistan with the Azerbaijan Republic promote intensification of mutually beneficial relations of the Mejlis of our country with the legislature body of the friendly state. The value of the meeting of the head of Turkmenistan with the chairman of the Azerbaijan Mejlis, that took place in August, current year was especially underlined during the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Baku who then drew the attention to an important role of members of the parliaments of both countries in development of full-scale interstate dialogue, fillings it with new qualitative maintenance. Thereupon participants of the present meeting discussed priority directions and prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
