Delegation of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan made working visit to Dubai (UAE) where third preparation meeting of the participants of the world exhibition took place on November 27 – 28.

During video conference session on December 3, the President of Turkmenistan focused on the objective of the trade complex on reduction of import and saturation of the markets of the country with various goods of local make and by affordable price.

A tour to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport was organized for participants of the ministerial transport conference. Particular interest in the facilities of the sea harbor was shown by representatives of major logistics companies that view Turkmenistan as a promising and reliable partner.

Farmers of Dashoguz region successfully coped with the annual task of harvesting rice. From the eight thousand one hundred hectares allocated for cultivation, more than 35 thousand 106 tons have been harvested of high-quality rice varieties “Nukus-2”, “Munbashi” and “Alenga”, which is more than planned. The main part of the crop was grown in specialized farms of the S. Turkmenbashi etrap, where a great experience has been accumulated in the cultivation of harvest and disease-resistant varieties of pearl grain adapted to local soil and climatic conditions.

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of national economy, to which dynamic development Turkmenistan attaches the utmost attention. As it was informed, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed number of Resolutions outlining the complex of measures of the government support and economic stimulation of national agricultural producers.

Turkmenistan increases production capacities in the import substitutive sphere. Representatives of private sector of national economy take active part in this process. Members of the UIET, , «Gündogar akymy» and «Kämilligiň gözbaşy» business entities build the plants for production of sunflower oil. In combination, these facilities will produce 24,000 tons of this product per year. Opening of the industrial facilities is planned in the next year.

Among strategic fields of partnership mentioned at the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan high-level talks that were held in Ashgabat was transport, where broad opportunities exist for the development of transit and transport and logistics infrastructure. A particular example of that is signing of the relevant agreement on the Afghanistan–Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Turkey (Lapis Lazuli) transport corridor to access Europe. In this regard, the sides mentioned effective contacts with relevant international structures: TRACECA, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and others.

The aspects of intensifying the cooperation in economics and trade were discussed at the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan high-level talks that took place in Ashgabat. The sides highlighted the role of the joint Intergovernmental Commission in developing and expanding the range of traded products, and encouraged the intensification of its work.
