As part of his trip to Balkan Welayat, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has visited a vessel of Turkmen Navy “Gaýratly”, which carries service for protection of maritime borders.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is now on a working visit to Balkan welayat, got familiarized with the construction of a modern sports complex in the national tourist zone “Avaza”.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has sent sincere condolences to the President of Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev in connection with the crash of a cargo airplane in the vicinity of “Manas” airport in Bishkek, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which was dedicated to summarizing the results of work of the Government in the past year. Vice-premiers, ministers and heads of regional administrations have presented their reports; decisions on matters cadres have been made. The objectives of socio-economic development of the country in 2017 have also been identified.

The activity of Turkmen diplomacy is aimed at realization of versatile foreign policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, comprehensive protection of national interests, consolidation of security and sustainable development in the region and on the planet. Cooperation with largest international organizations, development of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian relations with all interested partner sates remained the key vector of Turkmenistan course in the world arena in 2016.

Ashgabat hosted an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, where President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov gave a keynote address, summarizing 2016 and outlining the prospects for 2017.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received recently appointed the UN Permanent Coordinator, the UNDP Permanent Representative and the UNFPA Representative to Turkmenistan, Mrs Elena Panova, who presented her credentials.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who was completing his diplomatic mission to Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the diplomat exchanged their views on the prospects for enhancing cooperation.

The results of activities of military and law enforcement agencies in 2016 have been summarized at the expanded meeting of the National Security Council chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
