At the session of the Government of Turkmenistan, issues of providing textile industry with cotton at reduced prices in 2018 were discussed. As reported by Vice Premier in charge of industry, M. Aydogdyyev, currently the supply at global textile markets outgrows demand, which creates intense competition among textile manufacturers. According to him, well-designed pricing policy in supplying Turkmenistan’s textile enterprises with raw materials will help make better use of productive capacities, provide competitive advantages for products by local manufacturers on external markets, and improve profitability of the industry’s enterprises. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stressed that the textile industry has a major role in increasing the output and widening the range of high-quality products. To maintain high growth rates for the industry and boost competitiveness of Turkmenistan’s textile on external markets, practical steps are being taken at the state level, including creation of national brands capable of occupying stable positions in the global textile business.
