The farmers of the Dashoguz velayat started cotton sowing campaign, where the sowing season starts somewhat later than in other regions of the country. In the northern region 230,000 tons of ""white gold"" are planned to be harvested this year from the cotton field, which occupies 140,000 hectares. The farmers of the velayat prefer such medium-fiber cotton varieties as “Dashoguz-120”, “Serdar”, “S-4727”, “Jeyhun”, “149F”, etc. Modern agricultural machinery - tractors of different brands, seeders and cultivators will provide a clear, uninterrupted rhythm of the fieldwork, laying a reliable basis for the future harvest of the ""white gold "". Before the start of the spring campaign a meeting was held in the khyakimlik of the Dashoguz velayat, in which leaders and leading specialists of the etrap khyakimliks, experienced agronomists, machine operators and tenant cotton-growers took part. The participants discussed in details the organizational issues related to the sowing campaign in the optimal time, the quality implementation of the relevant agrotechnical measures. In the framework of the celebrations on the occasion of the sowing campaign beginning, exhibitions of agricultural machinery and products of the agro-industrial complex of the northern region were organized. The cultural program, dedicated to the motto of 2018 ""Turkmenistan is the Heart of the Great Silk Road"", included concerts of musical and folk-choreographic groups, as well as an excursion to the State Historical and Cultural Reserve ""Kunyaurgench"".
