On the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, Chairperson of Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova received credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Columbia to Turkmenistan Alfonso Lopez Caballero. On behalf of the Turkmen leader, the head of the National Parliament congratulated the diplomat on the appointment to the high post and wished him every success in developing the friendly dialogue between the two states. Thanking for the kind wishes, the Ambassador expressed the willingness to provide every possible support to enhancing the interstate cooperation. During the meeting, Alfonso Lopez Caballero was informed on the key areas of the state policy of Turkmenistan that focuses on the wide international cooperation. The guest got acquainted with the social, economic and democratic changes, the main goal of which is to ensure the prosperity and wellbeing of the Turkmen people. In particular, the diplomat was informed on the steps taken in the sphere of youth affairs, the development of the scientific and educational area, sports and tourism. The diplomat learned more about the structure and main areas of the legislation. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Columbia to Turkmenistan expressed the interest of his country in enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan in bilateral format and in the framework of authoritative international organisations, in particular the UN.
