Today, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was invited as an honored guest to the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, met with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Warmly greeting each other, the Hero-Arkadag and the Turkish leader exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the awarding of the “Highest Order of the Turkic World”, which became recognition of their special contribution to the development of the centuries-old traditions of friendship between the Turkic-speaking peoples in a new historical era.

Conveying warm words of greeting from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh emphasized the importance of the previous Summit held in the Turkish city of Istanbul in 2021, at which it was decided to join the Organization of Turkic States as an observer.

As noted, this historic event was a big important step, because the participation of our country in the Organization of Turkic States in this capacity is of a political and diplomatic nature and is aimed at further strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with the fraternal Turkic-speaking peoples.

Touching upon the topic of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that today they are actively developing on the basis of the traditions of friendship and brotherhood.

In this regard, the achieved high level of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Turkish cooperation, built on the principles of respect, trust and mutual support, as well as the availability of all opportunities for its further expansion and strengthening, was emphasized.

As noted, the Republic of Turkey is one of the main partners with which Turkmenistan maintains fruitful trade and economic relations. Also, due to the historically established cultural and spiritual closeness of the peoples of both countries, one of the priority areas is cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which is given increased attention. In this regard, confidence was expressed that active interaction in the field of science, education, culture, art and sports would continue successfully and effectively.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan focused on the importance of further development of parliamentary relations between the two countries.

- Intensification of cooperation between the legislative bodies of Turkmenistan and Turkey, exchange of experience in the field of lawmaking through mutual meetings and consultations is of great importance in strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, Hero-Arkadag said, expressing confidence that fruitful cooperation in this area will serve as an important tool for the further development of Turkmen - Turkish relations.

Confirming his readiness to support initiatives aimed at further promotion of inter-parliamentary relations, their more substantial enrichment, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished President Recep Tayyip Erdogan good health and success in responsible state activities, and further progress and prosperity to the fraternal Turkish people.
