Today, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who takes part as an honored guest in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Warmly greeting each other, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss in a personal meeting the key aspects of multilateral cooperation and the current state of affairs in bilateral relations.

Taking the opportunity, the head of the friendly state conveyed warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and congratulated the Hero-Arkadag on being awarded the “Highest Order of the Turkic World”, which became recognition of his huge contribution to the further rapprochement of the Turkic peoples.

As emphasized during the meeting, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan are united by centuries of history, traditional relations of friendship, trust and mutual understanding, cultural and spiritual community of peoples. Noting that thanks to joint efforts in the modern era, these contacts are acquiring a new quality and content, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the intensification of trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and inter-parliamentary cooperation, confirming that the Turkmen-Azerbaijani partnership, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighborliness becomes more and more dynamic and progressive.

It was also stated that the positions of the parties coincide or are similar on key issues of international politics and interregional relations of mutual interest, primarily in the field of ensuring global peace and security.

In this regard, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh expressed sincere gratitude to the head of the friendly state for his support in promoting and implementing the international initiatives of Turkmenistan.

As noted, our countries have a colossal resource, economic, transport and logistics potential, the practical implementation of which meets mutual interests and the Sustainable Development Goals on a regional and global scale. There are good prospects for cooperation in the field of energy, the creation and development of transport corridors, in the field of communications and communications, and in a number of other areas.

At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed the unanimous opinion that cooperation in the legislative sphere would serve as a significant step in strengthening fruitful cooperation, and in parting, they wished each other good health, prosperity and further success in their activities in the name of progress, and peace and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two states.
