Invariable adherence to wise admonishments inherited from ancestors - a sacred principle of Turkmen people. Honouring elders, augmentation of their authority are one of noble traditions, left by ancestors. A worthy role of elders in society and their merits in education of the younger generation in the spirit of conscientiousness, patriotism, diligence distinct manifest in our glorious history, literary heritage and everyday life.

With a view to ensure an active participation of elders in public life of our state, involvement of their rich labour and life experience in strengthening the unity of people and deliberate solution of state issues on the basis of discussion, the Presidium of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan decrees:

1. To create the Council of elders of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.

2. To approve:

1) The Provisions of the Council of elders of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan;

2) The staff of the Council of elders of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.
