Thousands of citizens of the Turkmen capital, hundreds of guests to Ashgabat from all regions of our country and foreign states gathered together at the festively decorated main square of Ashgabat early in the morning.

The solemn ceremony of rewarding state awards and awarding titles to servicemen and workers of military and law enforcement bodies on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of independence was held on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country.

26 years ago, the basis of democratic, legal and temporal state as well as political, economic and cultural development of our Motherland was laid together with the declaration of the independence. Our Independence demonstrated the unity and solidarity, high self-respect, patriotism, peace-loving and friendliness of our people, - the message of the Head of the State says.

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the country’s Armed Forces Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Ukase “On pardoning the convicted persons on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence”, releasing the pardoned Turkmen citizens from further enduring the primary custodial sanction, as well as from additional punishment as placing of the particular area detention duty.
