Summarizing the information at the meeting of the Government on the forum of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of the Turkmen initiatives on environmental and water-energy issues. During the meeting, a wide range of issues was discussed to intensify the partnership of the countries of Central Asia in the field of environmental protection, rational use of water resources, cooperation with other states and international organizations. A number of documents have been signed, including the approval of the Work Plan of the Executive Committee of IFAS for the period of Turkmenistan's chairmanship, preparations for the Summit of the Heads of Founding States of IFAS, the development of a new ""Action Program to assist the Aral Sea basin countries (PBAS-4)"" and the agenda for the next meetings of the IFAS Board. In this connection, highlighting the key tasks of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in IFAS in 2017-2019, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the need to continue the consistent work on implementing international initiatives of our country in this area, creating conditions for overall sustainable social and economic development.
