Representatives of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the “Coca-cola” company – the traditional sponsor of the largest competitions of this sport, arrived by a special flight at the Capital International Airport. As part of the world tour, held ahead of the 2018 World Cup, for the first time guests brought to Turkmenistan.one of the main football trophies of the planet – the FIFA World Cup. Every four years before the next Championship, the Cup “travels” around the countries and continents, allowing football fans to see the famous trophy and feel involved in a significant sporting event. Proxy representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, the National Olympic Committee gathered to welcome the guests. Then, the delegation headed for the “Berkarar” shopping and entertainment center, where it was held an official presentation of the FIFA World Cup. On the way, the guests highly appreciated architectural sites of white marble Ashgabat, and especially the Olympic Village, which became the venue of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in September, 2017. Successful performances of our athletes at these competitions, known also as the “Ashgabat 2017” Games, and the won medals presented the Turkmen state not only as the sporting power, but also demonstrated its commitment to friendship, brotherhood, mutual neighborly co-operation and openness to the world. At the entry to the “Berkarar”, numerous football fans greeted the delegation with a storm of applause. FIFA World Cup took its honorable place on a special tribune at the Center’s basement. The fact of young sports fans’ presence at the event is a sharp evidence of the success of head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s sport policy, healthy lifestyle promotion among the youth of our country and programs, aimed at popularization of the elite sport. About a thousand of football fans gathered in the “Berkarar” to look at the legendary trophy. Before the presentation, World Cup champion Christian Karembeu, representatives of FIFA, Football Federation of Turkmenistan, as well as “Turkmenistan Coca-Cola Bottlers” General Manager Goktug Gozutok took the floor. As it was emphasized, the healthy lifestyle promotion, physical education and sport is of great importance in the Turkmen society. Thanks to the large-scale initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a lot of work is being done in the country to promote sport. Nowadays, modern stadiums, fitness centers, schools with gyms and swimming pools function in all regions of Turkmenistan. The national leader’s commitment to an activity is the best example for society, first of all, for the younger generation, the attendees noted. Then, the FIFA representative granted a copy of FIFA World Cup to the head of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. The famous football player Christian Karembeu solemnly carried on stage the original Cup, made of pure gold, whereupon everyone had an opportunity to take a picture by the side of the Cup. Youth present here enjoyed it specially. At the end of the photography ceremony, the guests of our country left for Ashgabat International Airport to continue the world tour.
