Competitions were organized by Turkmenistan Boxing Federation, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and by the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Affairs. Around 100 men and women sportsmen in ten weight categories from the capital and the velayats participate in the competition. During opening ceremony, Vice-President of International Amateur Boxing Association and President of Asian Boxing Confederation Serik Konakbayev highlighted that current championship is an important step in the development of this sport. It is symbolically that it is held in the Olympic village, which has no analogues in the region by its provision and scale and is able to host the competitions of the highest level. Spectators enjoyed the performance of art bands and popular Turkmen singers during the ceremony. First fights of the 1/8 of the final in six weight categories started in the same evening. The tournament was opened by the fight between Bayramhan Permanov from Ashgabat and Batyr Orazmyradov from Mary Velayat in the weight category until 56 kilograms. Byaram has started the fight actively making sensitive punches and already in the middle of the first fight, the spectators witnessed the knock-out. Yazmyrat Gurbanov (up to 60 kg) started to attack vigorously his competitor Mansur Gurbanov from Lebap in the first round and as the result the sportsman made decision not to continue the fight. Two fights were held on the same day in weight category up to 64 kg between the sportsmen from the capital. Muhammed Berdieyv won Sunnet Annaseyidov and Shohrat Durdiyev took over Yunus Dovletov. Sportsmen from Ashgabat also met in the first fight in weight category up to 69 kg. Muhametmyrat Sehedov knocked out Kerim Esenmyradov with the series of strikes. Rahym Atabayev (Ashgabat) won Nurberdy Kulikov (Balkan) in the same weight category and Timur Tajimov from Dashoguz team took over Shahruh Sharipov from Lebap in stubborn fight by points. It was successful fight for Rasul Yoldashev (Dashoguz) in the weight category up to 75 kg who won Serdar Hudayberdiyev from Ashgabat. Representatives of capital team Baky Toychiyev who took over Gurbandurdy Gummyshov from Dashoguz and Tejen Hommadov who won Guvanch Akiyev by the series of precise strikes continued the fights in the weight category above 91 kg by the results of the fights. The tournament will be continued on the next day with quarterfinal fights including among women.
