President of Turkmenistan and Director General of Africa Eco Race discuss prospects of cooperation in motor racing

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Director General of Africa Eco Race Jean-Louis Schlesser - a French racing driver with experience in circuit racing and cross-country rallying. He is twice champion of the world in sportscars, the French touring car champion, the German Supercup champion and four times world champion in cross-country rallies, Paris-Dakar and Africa Eco Race champion. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest noted that he would very happy to visit Turkmenistan during these remarkable days and take part in the festivities on occasion of the large-scale sports competitions. The President of Turkmenistan underlined that our country paid particular attention to the popularization of the mass physical culture and health-improving movement, and comprehensive support to high performance sport. The state policy prioritizes the principles of the healthy life-style and creation of conditions for practicing sports. The prospects of cooperation in motorsports, where the partnership of our country with international and regional federation can be very fruitful, as well as the opportunities of joint projects in this sphere were discussed during the meeting. Highly evaluating the national achievements in the sphere of physical culture and sports, Director General of Africa Eco Race Jean-Louis Schlesser reaffirmed the interest of the international sports circles in further strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan as a country that has a modern profile infrastructure. In this regard, it was underlined the impressive organization of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games as well as the Silk Road-2009 international motor rally, which route run through the territories of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) awarded the highest status of Dakar series to Kazan-Ashgabat cross country rally. The technical and organizational aspects for holding Amul-Hazar 2018 rally that is to become a bright event in the international sports calendar. It was noted that one of the main goals of the contest was to familiarize the world with the priceless historical and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan. This year, which is held under the motto “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road, our country has revived its significance as a key link of this ancient route. The competitions will contribute to widening the humanitarian dialogue and developing sports in general. The Director General of Africa Eco Race awarded the President of Turkmenistan with the outfit of a participant of the world rally that will replenish the museum collection. In conclusion of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest expressed the willingness for further bilateral cooperation.
