President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev. Greeting Turkmen leader, the guest expressed sincere gratitude for the invitation of the CIS Observer Mission and creation of all necessary conditions for the monitoring of the preparation and conduct of the election of the deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the VI convocation on March 25. It was mentioned by the members of the Mission, which comprised of 90 representative of the CIS countries, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia Union and the CIS Executive Committee, have had the opportunity to visit polling stations of the capital and all velayats and to monitor the preparation and course of the election campaign. In this regard, Sergey Lebedev gave high appraisal to the level of organization of the Parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan, having highlighted that it was held on wide alternative basis in the atmosphere of transparency and publicity in strict compliance with existing national legislation and universal standards of international law, having provided Turkmenistan citizens with the right for the free expression of the will. Having expressed the gratitude for warm words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that significance of this social and political action, where the elections of the members of the People’s councils and gengeshys took place together with the elections of the Mejlis deputies, as another actual step toward democratic reforms expanded in the country, consolidation of the principles of true people’s power. Having expressed the gratitude to the Observers Mission and the CIS Executive Committee for fruitful cooperation, the Head of the State confirmed the willingness of Turkmenistan to continue developing traditional relations in the Commonwealth both in bilateral and multilateral formats. Continuing the meeting, the head of the State and his guest shred the visions on the perspective of cooperation under the CIS , which is built on equal, long-term and beneficial basis. Future chairing of our country in the Commonwealth of Independent States was also the subject of interesting discussion. In this context, Sergey Lebedev highlighted the constructive and open manner of neutral Turkmenistan policy, which is co-chairing country of the CIS this year. At the same time, it was stated that our country made excellent infrastructure for all level of international events, particularly large sport forums indicated by the triumph of V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in September last year. It was also noted that according to the initiative of Turkmen leader, the document on the announcement of 2021 as a year of Architecture and Urban Construction in the Commonwealth of Independent States has been prepared and approved by the CIS members. The Head of the State highlighted that while being an associated member of the CIS, neutral Turkmenistan is committed to wide cooperation with the states of the Commonwealth and with the nations that Turkmen people are connected with by the relations of friendships, good neighbourhood and trust. In the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent State expressed the confidence in further successful continuation of versatile cooperation in the CIS space.
