During the top-level talks in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani noted that the both countries possessed one of the richest reserves of oil and natural gas in the world. The countries are the largest oil and gas producers on the global scale. The Turkmen leader emphasized that all this contributed to the development of the fruitful Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in such important area as the global energy security. Turkmenistan takes the efficient steps in this direction at the national and regional levels. Given the close interconnection of the energy and universal security, the country is committed to ensuring the smooth and stable energy supplies to the world markets based on the multilateral international and legal instrument of the United Nations. During the talks, the President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the interest in developing cooperation with Iran in the energy sector and filling it with the new content.
