President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received governor of the Astrakhan Region, the Russian Federation Alexander Zhilkin, who arrived in our country to take part in the festivities on the occasion of opening of the International seaport in Turkmenbashi. Expressing gratitude for the hospitable welcome, the guest congratulated the Turkmen leader on the successful implementation of the ambitious project, the significance of which is stipulated by the new vast opportunities for enhancing full-scale international economic cooperation with the neighboring states and the interested countries in the world. According to the governor of the Astrakhan Region, the constructive initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan with the aim to create a branched transport and logistics infrastructure are widely supported by the world community. Thanking the guest for the participation in the events on putting the sea harbor into operation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the traditionally friendly, good-neighbourly character of cooperation with the Astrakhan Region, the importance of the joint projects in various spheres, including shipping industry. In this regard, the Turkmen leader underlined that the development of direct efficient contacts with the regions and the leading industrial centres in Russia ranked among the key areas of the interstate Turkmen-Russian dialogue. During the meeting, the Turkmen leader and the head of the region focused on the priority areas of cooperation, in particular the trade and economy, transport and communications, culture and humanitarian sphere. The prospects of widening the efficient partnership between the businessmen of the two countries given the whole complex of logistics services and other capacities of the International Sea Port in Turkmenbashi were specified. The meeting participants expressed belief that the business relations between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan Region would develop.
