Sets of medals in women’s 71 kg weight category was contested at the World Weightlifting Championship in Ashgabat. Representative of Turkmenistan Gulnabat Kadyrova contested in B Group. She was the second in the snatch, having lost one kg to the leader. She was at the seventh position in the clean-and-jerk and the third in total in the group. She entered the tens of the strongest in this category on the ninth position. The medals were contested in A Group. Leading positions of Chinese weightlifters were strengthened by Zhang Wangli. In the snatch, she provided the victory for herself in the second attempt, having lifted 113 kg. after, she confidently managed with 115 kg. Nadezda Likchacheva from Kazakhstan was the second with 112 kg and Sara Ahmed who set junior record of 112 kg was the third. Sara made another world record of 136 kg in clean-and-jerk discipline. Zhang lifted 10 kg and after 148 kg that became adult world record, which was improved by her immediately by 152 kg.in the result, she is absolute world champion and twice record holder in the clean-and-jerk and in total (267 kg). Egyptian weightlifter who set other two junior records in the clean-and-jerk with 141 kg and in total with 252 kg became absolute world record holder among young athletes in women 71 kg weight category and won two silver and one bronze medals. Martha Rogers from USA was the third in the clean-and-jerk. Nadezda Likhacheva from Kazakhstan was the third in total.
