Winner of Turkmenistan Sky Running Cup are defined

Completion cycle of Turkmenistan 2018 Sky Running Cup was completed by 18-km race in picturesque Kopetdag foothills. It was organized by Agama mountaineering club with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. Early in the morning, the participants of the race started off toward the check point located at the first station of the capital cable road. Alekper Ahmedov took the lead at this part of the race, having outrun his closest pursuer Gadurdy Hydyrov for six minutes. Sergey Arhipov and Kirill Shoshinov was the third and the fourth with minimum difference. Numerous ups and downs met the racers on the part of track to the second check point, coming over which Alekper increased his advantage two times. It was serious claim for victory. Sergey and Kirill have equalized the chances in the contest for the third position. Final part of the track was the most difficult. The runners had to come over steep slope with differences in heights up to 500 meters. Last part of the race ended up at 1,000 meter above the sea level mark next to Turkmenistan telecommunication centre. Alekper Ahmedov was the first to come to the finish with 2 hours 03 minute result. Agadurdy Hydyrov was the second, having lost 26 minutes to the leader. The third position was after Kiril Shoshinov, who won this victory in stubborn contest. In women discipline, Vladilena Omelchenko finished with significant advantage (3 hours 14 minutes). Turkmenistan Sky Running Cup consists of four rounds. The winners are determined by total amount of three best results of the year, this season was opened in March with the ‘high race’ to the third highest mountain of the country – the Dushak – Erikdag (2,482 m above the sea level). ‘Vertical kilometre’ race was held in September to the top of Harlasang mountain (1,643 m) in the outskirts of Gyokdere. ‘High race’ to the top of the Markow 91,530 m) took place in November and final round was completed today. Alekper Ahmedov became the winner and three-time holder of Turkmenistan Cup. He won this title previously in 2015 and 2016. Kirill Shoshinov was on the second while Alexey Galimov on the third place. All three sportsmen are representatives of the capital team. Among the women, Vladilena Omelchenko (Ashgabat) was the first in total count, Anastasia Loskareva (Ashgabat) took the second position and Gozel Atayeva from Balkanabat won the third place.
