Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed on a working visit to the Russian Federation, where, at the invitation of President of Russia Vladimir Putin, he is participating in the solemn events in Moscow commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The head of state was seen off by official representatives at the international airport of the capital.
Victory Day holds an important place in the national calendar. From the very beginning of that merciless war, our compatriots voluntarily went to the front and fought courageously shoulder to shoulder with brotherly peoples for peace on Earth and a happy life for future generations. A huge contribution to the common Victory was also made by all those who, during the difficult war years, worked tirelessly on the home front. The bright memory of heroes who fell bravely fighting fascism is honored on this day - May 9 - in all cities and villages of the homeland. Veterans, soldiers’ widows, and home front workers are surrounded by deep respect and care in our country. In the modern era, their military and labor feats serve as a school of true patriotism, selflessness, and humanism for the young generation of Turkmenistan.
After flying to Moscow, the presidential aircraft landed at Vnukovo-2 International Airport, where the President of Turkmenistan was met by official representatives.
At the appointed time, the presidential motorcade proceeded to the Moscow Kremlin. There, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The two heads of state exchanged friendly handshakes, followed by a joint commemorative photograph.
From the Kremlin, the President of Turkmenistan, along with other high-ranking guests - heads of delegations from CIS countries and other foreign states who arrived in Moscow to participate in the festive events - proceeded to the Central Tribune on Red Square.
The Victory Parade began on Red Square as the chimes tolled on the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin.
Eighty years have passed since the Great Victory in the most brutal and bloodiest war in world history, which led to irreparable losses, claiming millions of human lives and leaving unhealed wounds. United against the merciless threat, brotherly peoples demonstrated examples of valor and courage on the battlefields. Victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War is rightfully our common heritage. The participation of the President of Turkmenistan in this jubilee celebration is a clear testament to the respectful attitude toward the common feat of the liberator heroes, whose memory will live forever.
The Turkmen people made a worthy contribution to the Great Victory. Our compatriots fought selflessly on the fronts, showing unparalleled heroism, resilience, and strength of spirit. The valiant feat of Turkmen warriors is a genuine example of love for the Motherland, honor, and loyalty to duty. The names of our countrymen - both those who did not return to their homes and those who came back victorious - are recorded in the multi-volume editions "Hatyra" and "Şöhrat."
