Mass sowing of winter wheat began in Turkmenistan on September 2. As previously reported, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov adjusted the start date for sowing during the regular Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on August 28. With the blessing of the head of state, this important agricultural campaign began simultaneously in all regions of the country.

In keeping with a good folk tradition, after offering a prayer to the Almighty for a bountiful and abundant harvest of ak bugdai, honorary elders began the sowing. After throwing the first winter wheat seeds into well-prepared soil with the words “Her bir dänäň müň bolsun!” (“May every grain multiply a thousand-fold!”), the aksakals and their young assistants symbolically passed the sowing baton to the machine operators.

Turkmen farmers approached the start of this important campaign with particular care, promptly plowing and fertilizing the land earmarked for next year’s wheat harvest. High-quality seeds and agricultural machinery were prepared in advance for the sowing season.

It should be noted that in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, positive results are being achieved in all sectors of the national economy, including the agricultural sector. The state is creating the necessary conditions for productive farmers to grow abundant crops.

The successful implementation of the objectives outlined in the “Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for Socio-Economic Development of the Country in 2022–2028” and the National Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for the Transformation of Social and Living Conditions of the Population of Villages, Towns, Etrap Cities, and Etrap Centers for the Period up to 2028” facilitates improving the social and living conditions of the rural population.

As part of the agrarian reform, specific measures are being taken to digitalize the industry and implement advanced technologies and innovations. Significant investments are being made in the construction of modern agro-processing plants, elevators, and milling complexes with workshops for the procurement of select seed wheat, as well as mineral fertilizer plants.

Programmatic work is underway to strengthen the country’s food security. Farmers are provided with sufficient quantities of high-quality seeds, equipment, water, and other necessary supplies.

To mark the start of the sowing season, seminars were held in all regions to discuss practical aspects of the campaign. As noted, the use of modern agricultural techniques and best practices in grain cultivation will undoubtedly help farmers sow this strategically important crop at the most favorable time and with high quality.

Those gathered expressed their sincere gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his constant care for rural workers and for creating conditions for a dignified life and work for farmers, who make a significant contribution to the well-being and prosperity of the Motherland and the increase in food abundance in the country.

Exhibitions of products manufactured by enterprises in the domestic agro-industrial complex and specialized equipment available to the agricultural sector were also organized. To mark the start of the sowing season, vocal and dance ensembles and folklore groups from the regions prepared a diverse concert program.
