The International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex hosted the most prestigious competitions of the race season, which are held every year for the Turkmen Horse Festival. The honorable spectators included President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, members of the government, heads of diplomatic missions, participants in international horse breeding forums and other foreign guests. Horse racing, which has ancient traditions in Turkmenistan, still enjoys great popularity today. The spectacular event, accompanied with enthusiasm by crowded stands, hundreds of camera and photocamer lenses, including foreign reporters, lasted more than two hours. There were seven races for different distances, in each of which 12 horses took part. Ministries and departments of the country established a prize fund, with reward for the victory in one race of 20 thousand US dollars. In the final jump, the prize of the President of Turkmenistan was drawn in the size of 30 thousand US dollars. In the first run at a distance of 1600 meters, where horses of three years competed, a victory in 1 minute 46.8 seconds was won by the jockey C. Yazdurdyev on the bay mare Melkham from the Akhalteke horse complex (coach - Honored horse breeder of Turkmenistan M. Muhammadov). In the second race at the distance of 1800 meters among the three-year-olds, the first one with a time of 1 minute 57.3 seconds came the bay horse named Gujurly under the control of B. Babaliev (the horse is under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor General's Office, coach H. Babaliev). The third race of 2,000 meters was attended by horses of four years and older. The first - 2 minutes 20.9 seconds - was the finisher from the Akhalteke equestrian complex going by the name of Turan, jockey B. Babayev (coach Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov). In the 4th run of horses from four years with the distance of 2200 meters, the fastest - 2 minutes 28.3 seconds - was the dark bay Gonurbash (Ministry of Construction and Architecture), jockey I.Durdyev (master trainer A.Meredaliev). In the 5th race among four-year-olds, the black stallion Bakharly (Ministry of Construction and Architecture) and the jockey I.Durdyev (master trainer A.Meredaliev) finished in 2 minutes 27.8 seconds. In the 6th race at a distance of 2200 meters with horses from 4 years first, showing the result of 2 minutes 25.7 seconds, was the first black horse Sarpa (State Migration Service) under the direction of B. Berdimuhamedov (coach D.Taylyev). In the final, 7th race, where the Prize of the President of Turkmenistan was played, among the horses of 4 years and older the best time - 2 minutes 28.7 seconds - at a distance of 2200 meters was shown by the long-tailed horse Kaymirdon from Akhal-Teke horse complex and master jockey B.
