Final match for the second important Asian football trophy was held between the Champion of Turkmenistan for the last four years Altyn Asyr and existing owner of the AFC Cup Iraqi Club Al Kuva from Basra.

Sportsmen from around 100 countries of Africa, Europe, Asia, America and Oceania will participate in the competitions. Around 800 sportsmen, 300 coaches, 45 referees and doctors, 70 representatives of mass media and more than 100 employees of International Weightlifting Federation – 1,500 people all together, are expected. 201 medals – 67 gold, 67 silver and 67 bronze medals, will be contested. 500 volunteers from the universities of Turkmenistan were trained.

The World Weightlifting Championship will be held in Ashgabat on October 28 – November 10, 2018. Applications from 100 countries (9 states of Africa, 38 European countries, 29 Asian countries, 15 American and 9 Oceania countries) came for participation in the competitions. Therefore, arrival of 800 of foreign sportsmen and 1500 representatives of different countries including referee teams, journalists, etc. are expected. 500 volunteers from the universities of Turkmenistan have been trained for servicing of the tournament.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Olympic village where he inspected the preparation to coming World Weightlifting Championship especially the decoration and functionality of infrastructural facilities, which would host the main events of the championship, creation of the conditions for sportsmen and organization of the competitions on high level.

Sergey Meladze won bronze medal in powerlifting competitions at Asian Paralympic Games in the capital of Indonesia.

It was found out by the outcomes of two matches against the team of the Democratic People Republic of Korea April 25. The first match was held in Pyongyang two weeks ago and ended up in 2:2 draw.

Sambo tournament has started at the III World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan. It was marked by the victories of Turkmen wrestlers wh brought 2 gold and one bronze medals to the collection of national team.

‘Aba gyoresh’ wrestling competitions were held at the III World Nomad Games where Turkmen sportsmen has won another silver medal.
