President of the International Federation of Weightlifting, honorary member of the International Olympic Committee Dr. Tamas Ayan in the letter sent to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov expressed his gratitude for the excellent organisation of the Asian championship -2017 in weightlifting and the hospitality rendered in Ashgabat.

President of the International Draughts Federation V.O.Langin in the letter sent to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov congratulated on successful performance of the national team of Turkmenistan in the qualifying draughts -64 Asian championships to the world championship of 2017 held in Tashkent.

Gold and silver medals were gained by the Turkmen sportsmen in Baku at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, which gathered more than 3,000 athletes from 57 countries. Both awards were picked up in the weightlifting competitions. Also the capital of Azerbaijan, in the “Marriott” Hotel, hosted the presentation of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games forthcoming in Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan national team claimed bronze medals in women’s team tennis at 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

Istanbul, Turkey held 13th international junior free style wrestling competitions, which gathered 70 sportsmen from 6 countries of the world.

At the IV Islamic Solidarity Games under way in the Azerbaijani capital city Turkmen athletes met with the Turkish national team in the first volleyball match. Having lost to the opponents with a score 0:3, they still have the chance of competing for medals.

Turkmen sportsmen arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku to participate in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held from 12 to 22 of May. Complex competitions, where 20 medal events will be held, have assembled more than 3 thousand athletes from 57 countries – Egypt, Indonesia, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Gambia, Yemen, etc. Competitions will be held on the basis of the modern sports facilities, built for first European Games in 2015.

The capital of China held the 21st Football Tournament among the personnel of foreign countries’ embassies and accredited international organizations where Turkmen Embassy team became the leader. In the final match, our compatriots confidently won the representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation with 5:1 score.

Baton Rouge (Louisiana, USA) hosted international hanmudo (Korean martial art) seminar with particioation of the leading masters of this style from different countries including Turkmenistan. Chairman of National Hanmudo Martial Art Federation Orif Bukharakov, who passed qualification test during training session and received black belt (III dan), represented our country.

Young Turkmen chess players have won two silver medals at the World School Chess Championship in the city of Iasi (Romania), where several hundred sportsmen from some 40 countries arrived to compete. Azat Nurmammedov (under 15) from the city of Ashgabat and Farkhad Kazimov (under 17) from the city of Mary have become silver medalists.
