In celebration of State Flag Day, Turkmen mountain climbers have been making annual ascents to the highest peak of Turkmenistan, the Airybaba (3,139 m), for about 20 years to plant a national flag on the summit of the mountain.

Highest awards were secured by students of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism Muhammet Temirov (weight category under 81 kg), Hudayberdi Jumaev (under 100 kg), Aynur Amanova (under 52 kg), and also trainer of the 1st sports school of Galkynysh etrap of Lebap velayat Maria Lohova (under 78 kg) and sportswoman of the Federation of Kurash of Turkmenistan Gulshat Nasyrov (under 63 kg) from our team.

Today in Minsk, in the Palace of Sports, XXI international sambo tournament of category ""A"" - open championship of Byelorussia in sports and combat sambo for the prizes of President Alexander Lukashenko has finished. On the second day of competitions the national team of Turkmenistan has won five more medals - two gold, two silver and one bronze.

Seven medals - four gold, one silver and two bronze, have been won by Turkmenistan team on the first day of XXI international tournament in category “A” of the open championship of the Republic of Belarus in classical and combat Sambo for awards of the President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk. 14 medal events have been held on this day in total.

Turkmen sambo wrestlers will participate in the open championship of the Republic of Belarus. The tournament has gathered more than 200 athletes from 16 countries - Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Israel, Slovakia, Ukraine and others in Minsk.

While on a get-acquainted tour of the Olympic Complex, colleagues of the head of state practiced bicycle riding on the tracks of the indoor velodrome.

The “Sport” Hotel, which is in the capital’s Olympic Complex, has hosted an event to mark the launch of “Ashgabat 2017” Volunteer Program designed to register volunteers for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017. Students from all educational institutions will have an opportunity to file their applications electronically to become volunteers for the upcoming Games in September.

The Olympic Complex has hosted an Open Door Day attended by foreign sport specialists. The event was organized by the National Olympic Committee as part of thorough preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in the running year’s September.

The vice-champion of Turkmenistan, “Balkan”, played the first game in the 2017 AFC Cup qualifiers with many-time play-off winner of Kyrgyzstan, “Dordoy”, and ended it in a draw (1:1).

The sports school of Bayramaly city hosted the taekwondo championship of Turkmenistan (ITF version) and gathered over 150 participants. The host of the championship took the lead in the total team score by winning 17 gold medals.
